This amp is a merging of features from various other 18W amps. We have the solo/dual triode inputs from the 18W Lite, the preamp architecture from the Matchless Spitfire, the tone control from the Trem channel of the full fat 1974x and a defeatable post-PI master volume. These drive a pair of cathode biased EL84s.

The circuit board is stuffed with carbon film resistors and Sprague signal capacitors. Alpha pots and ceramic valve sockets provide the remaining detail, then as always everything is hooked up with color-coded solid core wire.

The final result of all this is a chimey clean sound, which stays clean for longer than most 18W amps but breaks into either a cutting or mellow overdrive, depending where you put the tone control.
